Caroline Burton - Statement
Education Having used clay at an early age and thanks to my mother's encouragement, I embarked on a 'studying ceramics journey' at night school at the age of 14. After studying at various levels over many years, I arrived at the last port of call- The University of the West of England, Bristol. Taught, encouraged and influenced by Mo Jupp, Nicholas Homoky and Roger Turrell, I graduated with a BA Hon in Ceramics. The pots My current work is a mixture of thrown, slipcast and hand built earthenware. All the designs are quite unique and are influenced by the world around me at the time! Each piece has a continuous story to tell. The work is full of narrative, fun, colour, texture and humour all pieced together like a tapestry. The images and patterns are my interpretations of the English countryside. Narrative and tapestry ideas derive from 'The Rich Tapestry of Life'! Exhibitions Currently exhibiting at Bell Fine Art, 67b Parchment St, Winchester, Hampshire Fisherton Mill Gallery, 108 Fisherton Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire
