OverviewMy initial training was in painting and printmaking, but after taking a pottery evening class run by Greta Berlin (sculptor), I undertook a Fine Art Degree at Southampton (specialising in sculpture). I have exhibited widely in Britain, with exhibitions also in France and Germany. My work is on Southern Arts visual Arts and Craft index. Commissions have included work for a Caribbean cruise liner and Hampshire County Council Total Theatre Awards. I was chair of Southern Ceramic Group for many years and then Membership Secretary for three years. Since obtaining a post graduate diploma from West Dean, I have also been working as a conservator/restorer of Ceramics and related materials. The Work:A combination of thrown, coiled, extruded and slab. The Clay:A grogged, white firing, stoneware body fired to earthenware temperatures. Influences:Paintings by Matisse and David Hockney; pots by Mick Casson and Jeff Mincham. Bideford Harvest jugs, medieval pottery and early Chinese earthenware. Inspiration:Ageing buildings, scars on the landscape, reflections and shadows.
