Statement
The organic and finely balanced forms of Rosemarie James' work are enhanced
by glazes of depth, richness and movement.
The colours and flow of sea and sky, the beauty of natural forms - these are
reflected in pieces to be treasured.
Whether the piece is a small vase or bowl, or a complex wall hanging or water
feature, all are made with care, skill and an eye for detail.
Her work has been bought by collectors from far and wide, and is influenced by
art and culture ranging from Russian to Ancient American, from Art Nouveau to
Hans Coper and Lucie Rie.
Having gained her degree in Ceramics at the Wolverhampton College of Art and a
teaching diploma from University of Southampton, Rosemarie has since combined
teaching and producing her own work with raising a family and an involvement in
other fields. She is now free to devote her energies primarily to her own work.
She has sold and exhibited in Israel and France as well as locally and her
current exhibition is at the Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum from May 21st
to October 29th 2006.
