Statement

Katerina is a contemporary ceramics artist and designer, born in Czech Republic. There she lived and studied fine arts and crafts graduating with honours in 2006, before moving to Brighton, England. She never stopped thinking about pursuing a career as an artist and after few years of not creating any work decided to make her way back into art.

Katerina is currently doing voluntary apprenticeship with ceramic artist John Evans. Helping john with his work, learning and discovering all the wonders of potter's everyday life is great experience and inspiration to her. As well as this, she is a volunteer in Brighton's Phoenix Gallery meeting a lot of wonderful people amongst them ceramicist Alice Walton who is being great help and motivation to her.

Katerina has set up small studio at her home and is creating her current work in both earthenware and stoneware.

Her inspiration comes from the world around her objects of everyday use and found objects. She is fascinated by old rusty rough and industrial textures and colours in contrast and in combination with modern sleek soft and natural designs. Her motto is one man's junk is another man's treasure.
